Your Subconscious Mind Is Running Your Life!

Studies have shown us that a healthy human brain can process 400 billion bits of information per second. However, we are only conscious of about 2,000 of those 400 billion bits of information. The mind is divided into two main aspects – the conscious and the subconscious. Our brain begins to prepare for action just over a third of a second before we consciously decide to act. Even when we think we are conscious, it is our subconscious mind that is actually running the show. Most of the information pertaining to reality is processed by your subconscious mind.

The truth is that you are not in control of your life because your subconscious mind supersedes all conscious control. The conscious mind is made up of our surface thoughts, wishes, desires and aspirations. The subconscious mind however, is termed as the “autopilot” behind your conscious mind. It keeps your experiences, concepts, insights, and perceptions long after your conscious mind has forgotten them. From here come the feelings and notions that rule your conscious self, affecting behaviors, habits, and mindset.

This part of the mind also serves as your guidance system. It constantly monitors the information coming from the senses for dangers and opportunities. It would communicate that information to the conscious mind. There is two-way communication taking place between the subconscious and the conscious mind through the principle of auto-suggestion. It is when you have an idea, an emotion, a memory or an image that comes from the past.

Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.

– Earl Nightingale

70% of Your Thoughts Are Negative

The model of our world is formed by our internal patterns and beliefs. These patterns and beliefs are installed during the first seven years of our lives. They eventually shapes our reality. This is when a child learns all the behavioral characteristics necessary to be a functional member of a family and a functional member of a community. It turns out that during those early years of our lives, up to 70% of the programs that we downloaded by observing other people, from our parents, family or siblings are negative, disempowering, and even self-sabotaging. We take in these messages from our surroundings and they become our automatic view of reality. This is the realm of our habitual thought patterns and beliefs, the things we do when we don’t even know we’re doing it.

As we grow in age, new subconscious patterns continue to form. This is especially true when we fail to keep our filters in place. We persistently entertain all kinds of negative, destructive and erroneous ideas unchallenged. These ideas eventually become expressed in our lives. Patterns that arise from the unconscious mind are very effective at influencing how you behave. The picture you hold in your mind creates your behavior and your biology.

We Are Running By Default

It is in the subconscious that our real beliefs and emotions reside. This is what the great spiritual master Jesus refers to when He taught that whatsoever you desire, when you pray, believe you have received it. It is the belief that creates the pattern by which the subconscious mind brings forth visible form and structure.

Your conscious mind, which is the creative mind only kicks in around age seven. That is your identity, the center of consciousness. When you are fully present and focused in the moment, the conscious mind is driving the bus. As soon as you start to drift away from this moment, there is a shift. The subconscious programs immediately take over in order to keep things moving.

The sky is not the limit. Your mind is.

– Marilyn Monroe

We spend the majority of our time thinking about something else other than the moment we are in. Due to this, science suggests that we are running our default programs about 95% of our waking life. These come from other people who did not plan our wishes and desires. They hinder us from getting the life we truly wish for. We’re operating from the habits we got from other people.

Change Your Programming

The things in your life that you currently possess are the evidence that you have a program that allows you to accept those things. Anything that you struggle with or have to reach towards with great effort is due to an undercurrent belief based on the program that is holding it at bay. The astounding fact is that you are not even aware of these self-sabotaging and disempowering patterns because it is coming from the program and your conscious mind is not observing it.

The conscious mind is an incredible thinking machine. It just doesn’t stop. Sadly many of these thoughts are unfocused noise and chatter. When you learn to allow the conscious and subconscious parts of your mind to work together, positive outcome that leads to healing, happiness and peace can take place. It is necessary then for you to recognize the unconscious program so that you can be empowered to change. When you are able to change the programs in the subconscious, you re-write the character of your life. Change is very possible but first, you need to deal with the belief that holds it in place.

Empower To Change

We are not victims of anything other than the programs we are operating from. If you are willing to cultivate and learn how to experience life by being fully present in the moment, then you are consciously able to change the programs you are operating from. This pure focus in the moment merges with a deep desire to bring forth the full expression of your highest self puts you in the full conscious co-creation of life. This is because when your subconscious mind and your conscious mind come together to achieve a common goal, you are able to believe that it can happen.

The picture that you hold in your mind creates the behavior and your biological makeup. Whatever is consistently and persistently held there goes on to become expressed in your life. What is generated by the perceptions of the mind will manifest a physical complement to it in your body and in your environment. Changes in our beliefs need to happen at a subconscious level for it to have any meaningful and lasting effect. While the subconscious mind is indeed much more powerful than the conscious mind, once you gain proper self-understanding, you will be able to consciously give instructions to your subconscious mind instead of letting it control you.

It all begins and ends in your mind.
